WE DID IT AGAIN: From the Jet2 Car to the SHAGUAR – Back to Back USC Burnout Champions

WE DID IT AGAIN.

From the Jet2 Car to the SHAGUAR – Back-to-Back USC Burnout Champions.

Every year, there's one event we look forward to more than anything else.

Ultimate Street Car at Santa Pod.

We've been attending USC for four years now, and every year we try to make it bigger than the last.

The last two years, though...

Things have got a little out of hand.

It All Started With the Jet2 Car

Last year we had an idea.

Take an old diesel Citreon, weld the doors shut, spray paint Jet2 Holidays all over it, throw a ridiculous flame map on it and enter the burnout competition.

Simple.

Or at least that's what we thought.

The "Jet2 Car" quickly became one of those projects where every idea was worse than the one before it, which usually means you're heading in the right direction.

We honestly entered just to have a laugh and put on a show.

Winning wasn't really on our minds.

Somehow...

We took home the trophy.

We couldn't believe it.

Neither could everyone watching.

Right... How Do You Top That?

Winning once was amazing.

But it left us with one problem.

How on earth do you win again... and do it in even more style?

Harry happened to have an old V8 Jaguar.

To most people, it was scrap.

To us...

It was an opportunity.

Originally, the plan was to turn it into Thomas the Tank Engine.

Thankfully, common sense never arrived...

Because the idea changed into something far more ridiculous.

The SHAGUAR was born.

Building the SHAGUAR

Just like the Jet2 Car, the first job was welding the doors shut.

Standard procedure at this point.

But that wasn't enough.

If we were doing this properly...

It needed a bed.

So out came the roof.

The cutting discs got to work, and before long the Jaguar had become a convertible.

We welded an actual bed frame into the back of the car and suddenly things started getting very silly.

Bethan designed a full set of custom graphics to finish it off.

Not Red Bull...

BedBull.

Not Need for Speed...

Need for Sleep.

Everywhere you looked there was another stupid joke hidden somewhere on the car.

Exactly how we wanted it.

Every Bad Idea Became Reality

Scaffolding poles?

Perfect exhausts.

A bright pink mattress cover?

Obviously.

Leopard print bedding?

Absolutely.

Pink fluffy handcuffs?

They somehow made perfect sense.

The plan wasn't just to build a bed into a Jaguar.

We wanted to drive it while lying in bed.

That meant extending the steering wheel.

Extending the brake pedal.

And somehow making the throttle work from the bed.

The solution?

A rope.

Pull it...

Full throttle.

Don't pull it...

No throttle.

Looking back...

Probably not our finest engineering achievement.

Last-Minute Panic

Like every proper project...

Nothing was finished on time.

At 1 o'clock in the morning...

Harry and Blandford were still rebuilding parts of the steering.

We were supposed to leave at 6am.

So naturally...

Five hours before setting off seemed like the perfect time to fix major steering issues.

Somehow...

It all came together.

The SHAGUAR was loaded onto the trailer and headed for Santa Pod.

Trouble Arrives

We got to USC.

Everything looked good.

Then...

The Jaguar decided it didn't want to run properly.

The MAF sensor was causing all sorts of issues.

Thankfully Harry managed to diagnose it and get the car running properly again.

Crisis avoided.

Or so we thought.

Burnout Time...

We drove down to the burnout arena.

That alone felt like an achievement.

Then we tested it.

It couldn't even spin the wheels...

On grass.

Not exactly confidence inspiring.

Suddenly panic kicked in.

While everyone else was out putting on huge burnouts...

We were underneath the SHAGUAR doing absolutely everything we could think of.

Clearing fault codes.

Disconnecting wheel speed sensors.

Working out how to force Sport Mode.

Covering the tyres in oil.

Inflating the rear tyres to 75 PSI.

If there was an idea...

We tried it.

It's Now or Never

Eventually...

Our turn arrived.

Harry was driving.

Aaron was lying in bed wearing the pink fluffy handcuffs.

Blandford was in charge of shifting the automatic gearbox.

Everything we'd built over the previous weeks came down to this one moment.

Harry hit the limiter.

Blandford slammed it from Neutral into Drive.

Honestly...

We expected nothing.

Maybe one tyre.

Maybe no smoke at all.

Instead...

Both rear tyres lit up.

Smoke filled the arena.

The crowd went mad.

The SHAGUAR had actually done it.

Back-to-Back.

When the judges announced the results...

We were genuinely speechless.

Against another incredible lineup...

The SHAGUAR had done exactly what the Jet2 Car did the year before.

We'd won.

Again.

Two completely ridiculous Cars.

Two USC Burnout Competition trophies.

Back-to-back.

Thank You

To everyone who came over to say hello...

Bought something from Sakura Streets...

Took photos of the SHAGUAR...

Or simply laughed at the stupidity of it all...

Thank you.

This community is exactly why we keep building things like this.

Without your support, none of it would be possible.

To Celebrate...

Winning back-to-back burnout competitions deserved something special.

So for the next 24 HOURS ONLY, we're giving back to the community that's supported us every step of the way.

So... What Happens Next?

That's the question we've already been asking ourselves.

Do we come back next year?

Can we build something even more ridiculous?

Do we keep this tradition going until someone finally beats us?

We honestly don't know yet.

But if the last two years have taught us anything...

It's that the stupidest ideas often make the best memories.

We'll see you at USC 2027.

Let's see if we can make it three in a row. 🏆🏆🏆
